18th GCC eGovernment and eServices Conference continues on its 3rd Day:


Dubai, UAE – Organized by Datamatix the 18th GCC eGovernment and eServices conference, at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, DIFC in Dubai, focused on how e-Government has forced unprecedented standardization throughout the public sector and how it has become a powerful generic tool for overall policy implementation also summarizing the trends of e-government project of UAE and GCC.

The day’s session began with the presentation on e-Government project trends by H.E. Eng Dr. Ali Al Kouri, Director General of Emirates Identity Authority. He spoke about the trends in e-government projects in the UAE and the GCC countries and highlighted the developments and global strategies used in designing e-services and e-government projects and the outcome that demonstrated the proper planning and continued progress in refining the e-Project in the region. He further added that the UAE e-government federal eGovernment strategy is to enhance the competitiveness of the UAE by adopting world-class practices in all areas of eGovernment with the innovative eGovernment technologies, committed to enhancing the competitiveness of the UAE and providing world-class multi-channel services based on the wishes of customers through a coherent, efficient government taking advantage of an advanced digital infrastructure and highly qualified human resources within a smart framework of governance.

Dr. Eesa Mohammed Bastaki PhD, CEO of ICT Fund discussed about the role of ICT Fund towards Ubiquitous Technology. He highlighted that the target goals of the ICT Funds are to develop the ICT industry, encourage R&D, support incubators, foster start-ups, and enhance education in the field of ICT and further discussed what they are trying to achieve for the UAE ICT sector like Incubating innovative ideas, intellectual capital, smart research, nurturing start ups, and technology leadership. He also said that their companies’ vision is to achieve a global leadership position for the UAE ICT sector by fostering and developing innovation and creativity.

The e-Government Project Implementation Success Story was presented by H.E. Eng. Ahmed Bin Alawi Ghamri, CEO of Sejel Technology Company Ltd. from Jeddah – K.S.A. He highlighted the success stories of Sejel and Ministry of Hajj, Global ePayment Gateway and Turnkey IT solutions on a Build Operate Transfer (BOT) Model. He discussed about how they created an efficient and modern Umrah Visa system that transformed the MOH from a typical government agency to a progressive modern electronic-based environment. He further discussed how the MOH network infrastructure was upgraded and linked to the Data Center within a fully integrated WAN; The Data Center has succeeded in creating an integrated and seamless process by which visas are now issued without the need for applicants to go through multiple government organizations. He also spoke about the Global ePayment Gateway an automated payment system for the Umrah sector. He also discussed about their specialization in investing and operating under the Build, Operate and Transfer investment model (BOT)

The day concluded with the e-Notary case study presentation of Dubai Courts by Mr. Abdulrahim Ahmad Almudhareb, Director of IT Department from Dubai Courts which stressed on the development of the eNotary system that has resulted in better processing times for documents, a reduction of the number of people visiting the Dubai Courts every day and a reduction in spending on office supplies. The solution is one of its kinds within the region, developed on high quality benchmarks. He further added that these services include PDF-based interactive forms that allow users to apply for services within the Dubai Courts, online appointment booking and an eGovernment Payment Gateway to allow users to pay fines and fees.

Attended by VIPs, CIOs and decision makers from government, business and international institutions, the conference continued to serve as a platform for discussing and highlighting the achievements of citizen centered vision of a government that provides effective governance, increased transparency, better management, effective processes and efficient services through the use of the Internet and information and communication technologies (ICTs).
